Our first three babies, all girls, each weighed about seven pounds at birth. When our fourth arrived, he was much larger.
After delivery, the medical team began testing and measuring my new son. The last reading came from a nurse, who seemed impressed as she read, "Weight, nine pounds, eight ounces."
My husband, a CPA in corporate finance who'd been quiet up to this point, could contain himself no longer.
"How about that!" my husband exclaimed happily. "It's 36.5% more baby!"
I have never understood the thinking of people who want to make cars that fly. Of course, I understand the coolness of making a car fly, just not the desire to make a world where cars fly. We have enough problems with people who can't drive on the ground and now we want to fill the sky with them? That's just what we need, car wrecks raining down on us like meteorites!
I'm not totally rigid on this point though. I think there is a compromise to be had. Let's meet half way and let everyone have a personal blimp instead. They look like they would just bounce off each other if they collided.
The only thing left to do would be to confiscate all the slingshots from every kid in the world.
I live in the most temperate part of Canada. We hardly get any snow in a normal winter. However, from time to time we do get an amount that is exceptional for our area. This loss of "temperateness" often tempts us to temporarily lose our temper until the temperature returns closer to that of tempora chicken. Consequently, in our neck of the woods we don't enjoy watching the snow melt - we enjoy watching it die.
It's a pity, really, because snow flakes have such potential to be cheery things. The SPCA rescued Maggie from Manitoba's Red River flood in 1996 and brought her to British Columbia where she had two short term owners before becoming a part of the Davis household where she preferred adults over kids, picked and ate fruit from trees in the backyard, and very rarely went into water at the beach.
